The second Local Living Lab of the INSPIRE project, led by the Municipality of Messina as Lead Partner, took place in Messina on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, at Villa Dante – Centro E.si.sto. The meeting brought together local producers and stakeholders. It was conducted by Slow Food, a project partner, with Nino Mostaccio, President of Slow Food Messina APS, together with the project’s Project Manager, Beatrice Briguglio, and Tino Celisi, the project’s tourism expert.
The Local Living Lab is the tool through which the project builds its choices together with those who live and work in the territory. The Villa Dante session follows the first meeting, held in Taormina on 14 September, and is part of the path leading to the Local Action Plan, through which the input gathered in the field is turned into concrete actions.
All Local Living Labs in the project have a hands-on approach. They are not presentation-only events but working sessions in which participants produce usable content, followed step by step from a methodological and operational standpoint. At Villa Dante, the work focused on selecting the themes that emerged in the first meeting and from the mapping of the territory. Participants were asked to identify the priorities on which to concentrate action and to lay the foundations of the accredited tourist route that the project intends to develop.
The meeting was attended by Liana Cannata, Councillor for Agri-food Policies, and Enzo Caruso, Councillor for Tourism, who followed the entire session, gathering the outcomes of the discussion and placing them within the Municipality’s planning.
The process will continue with the drafting of the Local Action Plan and its presentation to the territory, in line with the project’s planned milestones.
The INSPIRE project (INnovative Sustainable tourISm gRoundEd on agrobiodiversity), code Euro-MED0401041, CUP F49I25000250006, is co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme 2021-2027. The Municipality of Messina is the Lead Partner of the partnership.
