INSPIRE Inception Workshop: Launching a New Vision for Sustainable Tourism in the Mediterranean
The Inception Workshop is the official launch event of the European project INSPIRE – a transnational initiative focused on transforming the Mediterranean’s rich agrobiodiversity into a driver for regenerative and sustainable tourism.
Held on July 9–10, 2025, at the City Hall of Messina (Italy), the event brings together project partners and associated stakeholders from Italy, Greece, France, Spain, and Albania to align on strategy, share knowledge, and set the foundation for collaboration.
Setting a Common Vision and Strategic Direction
Over two days, the workshop will foster open dialogue, technical exchange, and long-term planning among all participants. The agenda is designed to:
- Introduce key concepts such as regenerative tourism, agrobiodiversity mapping, and Slow Food Travel
- Clarify partner roles, project structure, and shared responsibilities
- Launch the methodology for Living Labs and the digital E-lab platform
- Facilitate co-creation and build a shared roadmap
The first day is focused on internal coordination, while the second includes a public session featuring experts in sustainable tourism, biodiversity, and community development. The event concludes with an interactive session to co-design a common vision for the project’s pilot territories.
Why It Matters
This Inception Workshop marks the beginning of a joint journey across the Mediterranean. It lays the foundation for a regenerative approach to tourism — one that prioritizes environmental resilience, local culture, and economic revitalization through community-based action and innovation.
