INSPIRE (INtegrating biodiverSity Preservation and agrobIodiversity valorisation in touRism managEment in the MED area)

The INSPIRE project seeks to transform agrobiodiversity conservation into a driver of sustainable tourism. Agrobiodiversity refers to the variety and variability of living organisms that support agricultural ecosystems, an essential element of the natural environment in farming regions.

Focus

INSPIRE is a transnational initiative aiming to transform the Mediterranean’s rich agrobiodiversity into a driver of sustainable, experiential tourism. In response to the dual threats of unsustainable tourism and biodiversity loss, the project champions a regenerative tourism model inspired by the Slow Food Travel approach.

By fostering Living Labs, developing an E-lab platform, and creating authentic travel experiences rooted in local culture, INSPIRE supports environmental resilience, socio-economic revitalization, and cultural heritage. The project unites partners from Italy, Greece, France, Spain, and Albania in a shared mission to bridge local innovation with Euro-MED sustainability goals
